Hi Sophie

Well the horse that doesnt box properly needs some attention to detail. Its very dangerous to have to ride your horse into your box or trailer, so the sooner you can get your horse happier loading the better. There are many natural horsemanship experts in the monty roberts or parelli school who do a lot of this type of handling training. However usually finding a way to get your horse to like being in the box eg feeding horse in it daily etc eventually breakdown the resistances. I would need to know how he refuses to load to be specifically helpful.

Regarding your 6 year old, it sounds like you need to reback your youngster, start from scratch again carefully work through the basics and make sure that progress is carefully completed at each training stage before moving on ;-) How does he behave? What do you want to do with him? Do you have trainer you work with or could you join a Riding club and do some clinics to get help with him?
