April and May and the Rain!!!

April was disastrous as there was so muhc rain that many event were cancelled...so we didnt get out much, so after a brilliant Munstead with a win (Bartle) and a place(Rosa)and a near placing with Hera, we didnt get out again till May. Nurstead cOurt was a very nice course, great real xc course with galloping fences across undulating land, Bartle loved it and we came 6th! Mattingley was a challenging event, we had Sam (Jays silver spirit) out for his first proper intro tis year after being of with many lameness issues, and he was a good boy, going clear xc albeit very slowly, he was still in shock that i expected him to jump the things i did!! Hera went extremely well for her, the record doesnt tell the whole story. hera ddi her first proper "stylish" clear sj and the two stops xc were just little looks into the ditches, one was an unlucky stop, she barely stepped back, but alas an inch or two backwards is enoug to get 20 penalties.
Rosa was not on form for some reason she was unhappy in warm up at mattingley...i got her round with muhc enocouragement clear sj, it took everything i had, but very unusually for her she stopped xc. I suspect she is out of sorts somewhere in her body, this has hapend with Rosa before, she like many mares can be unpredicatble in her sttitude to jumping, so we will push on after vet checks, and as long as no signs of physical problems, we will work on idea that she is just having a "phase" and that she will come out in a few outings on the other side, going clear xc again i hope.
Borde Hill next, and Bartles first PNP, should be intersting? |
