Sarah Elliott and Duke of Bartle win at Borde Hill

| Borde Hill ran its newly designed xc course at its Spring Horse Trials this Saturday. The course was beautiful and very challenging, especially for the intros ie BE90s. However Sarah Elliott and the Duke of Bartle who have been training hard all spring to prepare for this their third event together, pulled out all the stops and galloped into first place with the fastest clear of the day in her class. Well done Sarah, hey prove yet again that preparation is key! My clients horse Jays silver spirit found this level of xc a bit of a stretch but we managed to complete, with a handful of faults, having fallen victim to the bogey fence 8, a roll top to a ditch that eliminated many a competitor! We did complete though and I was pleased with that. Sam as Jays silver spirit is known, is a non TB type and we have to have him very fit to get him to manage any hills or to canter forward properly. His show jumping was better again though, with only one down, whihc is much improved over the first two BE90s of season where he had three down each time. Other clients also did well, Beverley Mattelear on Langaller Beach Legacy had a super XC round with the young and green horse Known as Buddy at home, a shuffle at the ditch gave her an annoying 20 pens, but actually given the challenge of the course and Buddys inexperience, they did very well. Deidre Massini who also trains with me, had a super round clear XC and just one down in showjumping, and they were HC so their final score couldnt count, but they were very competitive as they were fast xc as well. |
