End of Season summary
19 November 2008

Well the season is finally over, and I have been having a short break from competition, for a few weeks. Now Im back doing dressage and show jumping throughout the winter.

The last few events went well, the Duke of Bartle had a jump down at south of england, but would have placed still, had I not forgotten that he is very fast and as I had not ridden him since June, I went too fast and we got 5 "too fast" penalties, silly me!..However he was his amazing self cross country and really fun to ride. Bod aka Jays Gransun also did the OPN at S o E, but he got a ridiculous dressage score of 42, he hasnt got lower than 60 per cent in years!!, the judge had some very interesting marks, I was not the only victim at all, several top professionals joined me in the 40s..we might still have placed but Bob was still not back to himself in the show jumping and we had two down...(Bob had a fall sj a year ago at novice and he has not quite forgotten it.

So next to last event of the season was Pulborough. With no OPN rosa went on her own, and I rode Jays golden hera there as well. Hera did an awesome dressage for her and a clear show jumping, and we were all set to win , all we had to do was go clear and it was well within her capability, but she too serious ofence to a brush that was blowing in the extremely wet windy conditons and it too some time to convince her to jump the fence!1..and that was the end of her winning chance. Brendon Hill Shar Talk aka Rosa, came through for me, to win the PN section and take home a very nice rug ;-) I credited Mark Phillips ( USA event team trainer) for my success that day, for he had given us a jumping lesson a few days before, and had driven us to ride far more forwards, which given the horrendous wet conditions on the day made our job much easier. rosa placed at Tweseldown next time out as well, so again thank you Mark.

So another season drew to a close, Bob has lots of dressage planned, he is competing at Medium level out, and working advanced medium at home, we have a long way to go with our flying changes to compete it advanced medium but thats out goal for next year ;-)

And lastly a bit of good news, some of you will know Albie my schoolmaster has been off since the spring with a suspensory injury. He was successfully operated on in Sept and is now reasonably sound so far, and I am starting to rehab him with a walk program, with luck he will be available for lessons again by the Spring 2009 ;-)

Clinics are planned in Feb for xc at Tweseldown and coombeklands. Show Jumping clinics will be held at various venues starting Mid December. We have monthly clinics at Warnford, Meon Valley, Hampshire, and dressage clinics at the Priory Equestrian Centre In Frensham, Surrey.

Ps I am now on the committee for Wey Valley riding club, and would like to encourage all of you who are local to join us. We are hoping to be the best club in our area next year and I will be offering Members lesson discounts and we also have some amazing Guest clinicians coming up next year, so come be part of the best ;-0
